Venture Outside

Nothing beats a sunny South African summer’s day, except spending it outdoors in Waterfall City. Go for a run, ride your bike, play in the park, visit the market or practice your golf swing. Just relax and enjoy the wide open spaces and fresh Waterfall air.

Mini Fun Fair

Roll up! Roll up! The Fun Fair is in town! Open Thursday to Sunday in Waterfall Park, you can ride the Carousel or Mini Ferris Wheel, take a spin on the exciting Teacups or join a train ride on the Candy Express. And watch out for those Crocodiles! At R20 per ride and R200 for 3 hours on all rides, there’s big fun for little ones in Waterfall Park.

Waterfall City Park

A choreographed musical fountain, illuminated at night with 64 coloured lights, welcomes you to the 1,2 hectare Waterfall City Park. Picnic under shade trees, enjoy your lunch break on the park benches, or attend one of the many events hosted in the park. You can even book the park for your own event.

World of Golf

Work on your swing, or practise pitching or putting. Whatever your pleasure, the biggest golf practice facility in the southern hemisphere is waiting for you at Waterfall. With a mashie course designed by Gary Player, 12 different practice areas and 190 hitting bays, it even features a Gary Player Golf Experience teaching academy. If golf is your game, this is where you need to be. And even if it isn’t, the fitness centre, Nike retail outlet, spa, kiddies play area, family restaurant and conference facilities make for a great day out. Go on, take a swing.

Selfies turn out so much better when you have something awesome in the background and Mall of Africa has a couple of great selfie spots. Besides the amazing architecture of the mall itself, you shouldn’t miss the impressive PwC Tower—the only twisted tower in Africa, which you can use as a breath-taking backdrop from the Town Square. But the mall’s most Insta-worthy spot must be the incredible twin Africa sculptures in the courtyard outside Tasha’s. Called “There is no time like the present”, this art installation features two 5,5m high sculptures, which represent two faces of the African continent—one rooted in tradition, and one rooted in the modern world, reflecting the wealth of opportunity and potential that lies within us. Meaningful and a brilliant selfie setting!

Waterfall’s latest and hottest selfie spot must be the new Novartis staircase located on Magwa Crescent. It got a major makeover in November, thanks to local artist, Chris Valentine. The vibrant staircase is bound to stop you dead in your tracks and is the perfect backdrop for your impromptu photoshoot, while you wait on the gautrain bus.

Good news 4×4 adventurers! Now you can put your off-road driving skills to the test without leaving the city. The 4 600m2 BMW xDrive Park next to Waterfall Park, features 1,3 kilometres of off-road track, designed to showcase the BMW xDrive system within all BMW X models. There are 12 off-road modules, where you can put a BMW X vehicle to the test. Don’t own one? No problem—simply book a driving course to experience the thrill of driving across rocks, logs, water, soft sand and more. It’s an adventure for the whole family and just the beginning of your experience with BMW.
